Product Review: Maybelline Fit Me Pressed Powder (Fitted for Contouring)

Happy Tuesday everyone! I hope you're all having a wonderful week. Anyway, this blog post is another product review of my current contour powder. Actually, it's not really a contouring makeup but a pressed powder. Why? Let me explain.

I bought this product during our Euro Trip because I didn't like the bronzer I was using that time. It was too red for my skin tone that I found it unnatural looking. I tried searching for bronzers in different European drugstores but I didn't find one with a matte finish and has a hint of yellow undertones.

But I realized that maybe I should look for a darker shade of powder instead. Why foundation? First, foundations have wider spectrum  of shades. It can cater to different undertones. Plus, it's also long lasting and can provide the coverage that you want.

So finally, I found one that's affordable yet fitted all the criteria I've been looking for. It's Maybelline Fit Me (in 355 "Coconut")!
I know I know. It's not available locally but don't worry cause I'll give you an alternative to this product. Got this in Vienna, Austria for around €5.99 (roughly P320). It was the darkest shade available so it's perfect for my tan skin.

It comes with a black square packaging that I actually like. Like other compact powders, it has a separate compartment for the sponge and comes with a big mirror. Another plus point!

I really like the creamy texture and the matte finish. Pigmentation is good and also buildable.

PROs:
1. Affordability
2. Creamy texture
3. Variety of shades
4. Buildable coverage
5. Looks natural as contour shade
6. Great packaging
7. Stays matte (I have combination skin)

CONs:
1. Availability (not locally)
2. Pigmentation is a bit sheer (but...see PROs #4)

Overall Rate: 4.2 out of 5

I love this powder and I think that it's also a great pressed powder. Too bad I didn't get my shade. :(

Since this is not available locally, you can check out Fanny Serrano's 2-way cake in Rajah! MUAs and Glee Club girls swear by this product. It's the most suitable contour shade especially for girls with yellow undertones. :)

We all know that contouring is a tricky task but I also think that it's an important step when doing your makeup. At the end of the day, we want to show your best assets right?

HANDY TIPS:
1. Choose a matte finish for your contouring shade to avoid the light from reflecting (I think bronzers are not contour shades). Contouring can help you achieve a more symmetrical face. Foundation tends to flatten our natural bone structure.
2. If you decide to use a powder foundation as contour shade, choose something that's 2-3 shades darker than your skin tone. Also, opt for something that contains your undertone.
3. Buy a good angle/contour brush to make the task  easier. Check out Marionnaud NO32 Blush brush.
4. To easily achieve prominent cheek bones, do a fish face and apply the contour shade on the hollows of the cheek.
5. Lastly, don't forget to include your temples and jawline when contouring to create an illusion of an oval shape face. It's like drawing '3' on the side of your face. :D

That ends my Maybelline Fit Me product review.
