Maquillage Professionel Class: Days 2 & 3

And I'm back! Sorry for not posting for more than a week. As some of you may know, I recently went to Cambodia for vacation with 2 friends. Still in awe with all the temples I saw. Anyhoo, I'll save that for another post. Let me just give you a quick overview of my Day 2 & 3 at makeup school.

DAY 2 - Eyebrow Correction and Facial Contouring

On this day we learned about the proper way to shape eyebrows. Like I said in my previous post, eyebrows can help frame your whole face, making it more symmetrical. I found this day exciting since you know how much I love eyebrow shaping. Hihi. Also, it was my first time to use a gel based eyebrow product from MUFE. Challenge accepted!

We also discussed facial contouring and highlighting, another important step to achieve good makeup look. These techniques will help achieve a perfect oval shape. It can also emphasize your good facial assets and hide a few imperfections. There were 2 methods introduced and one of which is dry contouring. This method is what I've been using for the past 2 years. But the next method, which is wet contouring, is something new to me. I've heard of it from other makeup artists but it's my first time to try it out myself. Ms. Mikee encouraged the experienced MUAs to try out wet contouring for the whole face.

I got my pretty friend Leslie to model for me and after my hands-on, here's the result.

You might find the brows a bit strong because of her bare face but everything looked balanced after I applied the rest of the makeup. I think the color suited her brows well. I also used HD blush on her since I used wet contouring method anyway. Again, the foundation matched her perfectly. Too bad I wasn't able to take a 'Before' picture. :( Since Les was going to a date that night, I completed the look with a bit of eyeshadow, mascara and lipstick.

Photo with my model. I swear I need a new camera. :(

"It's always an exciting treat having Glacey do my makeup. A big part of it is she's such a natural so I trust that whatever she does or experiments with will look great! She often has tips and suggestions too that'll look good specifically for my eyes, skin tone, face, etc. ;)" - Leslie Gabe

DAY 3 - Eye and Lip Shape Correction

Since I missed my class last Day 3, I was allowed sit in another class last September 26. That's what I love about MP! This day covered the different eye shapes and the proper way of shaping them. Just like our body, we need to assess the shape and know the techniques that will compliment it. As usual, I learned new things again and one of which is the open banana technique, a method applicable for people with droopy eyes. And what are the odds, my model friend that night has that type of eyes. I knew right then that it will be a challenging hands-on. I already did Beth's makeup in the past but the look required back then was au naturale. Thank God Sir Mio was there to guide me. He commended the finished product but of course, he also advised me to practice that technique more.

I am so stupid not to take a shot of her lids. Arghhh. :( I swear, the open banana technique really added an illusion of eye fold. Oh well, I'm just happy that Beth liked it and you have to agree she looked prettier after the makeover.

Of course, we'll never skip the Bar Dolci ritual. Hmmm. I think Bar Dolci can now make me their brand ambassador. Haha!

"Glacey has a remarkable talent in making people look good and feel beautiful! Thus, the modeling stint had definitely made my day! Truly, I am one loyal client. Thanks dearie!" -  Beth Arcega-Mendoza

I never really regret that I enrolled in makeup school. I do know a lot of things about makeup but I love the fact that I am learning so much more about this craft.

This Saturday is another makeup class and I'm just as excited.

Ciao!
