Maquillage Professionel Class: Days 6, 7 & 8

Hello dearies! Let me just give you a quick preview of my days 6, 7 and 8 in makeup school. I have already learned so much and I can't wait to share it with you. :)

Day 6: Smokey Eye Makeup

I learned that the classic smokey eye look should only use one color. And with that color, you will try to create a fading effect (just like a smoke) from your lids to your crease. When doing this look, it's best to arm yourself with a clean quality blending brush.

For my hands-on, I decided to use green. To make it more vibrant, I used flash colors before setting it with the eye shadow powder. Again, the key to this look is blending. :)

Product Review: Vaseline Lip Therapy Rosy Lips

The colder days are coming and  with this type of weather, chapped lips are very common. I always tell people to religiously put balm on their lips cause it really does wonders. Girls, it's important to protect and take care of this particular body part. Why?

1. It's easier to apply lip products with smooth and crack-free lips. Plus, it looks healthier too!
2. It avoids dead skin cell build up.
3. It's more hygienic and pleasant to the eyes.

One of the most common, affordable and effective product you can use is PETROLEUM JELLY. A lot of people swear by this product cause it really keeps your lips smooth with regular use. But I find the regular one quite boring. That's why when I found this particular kind of petroleum jelly, I knew I had to buy it.

Brand: Vaseline Lip Therapy Petroleum Jelly in Rosy Lips
Price: €1.50 (Around Php80++)
Location: Penneys Ireland

Maquillage Professionel Class: Days 4 & 5

Finally, a new post! These are long overdue photos of my makeup classes but you know what they say, better late than never. This post will summarize the result of my hands-on for days 4 and 5 in makeup school.  I decided to post these classes together since they are somewhat related.

Day 4: Makeup du Jour (Day Makeup)

I believe that every MUA should be able to execute this kind of makeup of effortlessly. This look is suitable for people who have events in the morning. One thing to take note about this look is the use of natural colors. Basically, you only want to enhance the features of the client without altering the whole face.

My digicam was giving me a hard time that we had to use Czar's camera phone

Maquillage Professionel Class: Days 2 & 3

And I'm back! Sorry for not posting for more than a week. As some of you may know, I recently went to Cambodia for vacation with 2 friends. Still in awe with all the temples I saw. Anyhoo, I'll save that for another post. Let me just give you a quick overview of my Day 2 & 3 at makeup school.

DAY 2 - Eyebrow Correction and Facial Contouring

On this day we learned about the proper way to shape eyebrows. Like I said in my previous post, eyebrows can help frame your whole face, making it more symmetrical. I found this day exciting since you know how much I love eyebrow shaping. Hihi. Also, it was my first time to use a gel based eyebrow product from MUFE. Challenge accepted!

We also discussed facial contouring and highlighting, another important step to achieve good makeup look. These techniques will help achieve a perfect oval shape. It can also emphasize your good facial assets and hide a few imperfections. There were 2 methods introduced and one of which is dry contouring. This method is what I've been using for the past 2 years. But the next method, which is wet contouring, is something new to me. I've heard of it from other makeup artists but it's my first time to try it out myself. Ms. Mikee encouraged the experienced MUAs to try out wet contouring for the whole face.

I got my pretty friend Leslie to model for me and after my hands-on, here's the result.

August Makeup Haul (Don't Miss The Pink Case)

Hello ladies! I would just like to share with you my haul last month. It's not a lot but I think you'll find it quite interesting. Let me go first with a new eyeshadow palette gifted by a friend on my birthday. I've only had 2 Smashbox items in my kit. I really like the quality of their products but I find them a bit pricey. We all know that Smashbox is famous for its face & eye primers, cream liners, O-Glow, HD foundation, etc. So yeah, you can tell how much giddy I was when I received it from my friend (Hello Cas!).

Product Review: Maybelline Color Sensational Lipcolor

Hello beauties! Before the week ends, let me give you a quick product review of the much-raved about lipstick of Maybelline. We all love Maybelline's Moisture Extreme lipstick line but this item is for ladies who want to give more color to their lips. I'm sure you've heard about Maybelline Color Sensational Lipcolor. If not, then keep reading. :)

New Milestone For Makeup by Glacey (MBG): Makeup School (Day 1)

As you all know, I am a makeup junkie and freelance MUA. But the truth is, I have no formal education in makeup artistry. It's been the greatest dream of mine to go to makeup school and be a professional MUA. However, I also value my education that my family worked hard for. We all know that studying in Ateneo is quite expensive and I don't want to waste all the things I've learned. Honestly, my degree feeds me and sustains my daily needs & wants. Aside from that, tuition fee for a good makeup school is no joke, even the materials you need can be very expensive.

I believe that it's only myself who can make my dream happen. I don't have to get there right away (Yup, I'm not quitting my corporate job). I'm willing to do baby steps just to reach what I've been dreaming of. That's the reason why I already started freelancing 2 years ago. I tried to practice, practice and practice. This beauty blog is also a product of my dream. It's an outlet for me to freely share what I know even if I'm not a certified MUA.

Product Review: Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder

We all hate patchy looking makeup after setting our foundation. It is very tricky to find a setting powder that will perfectly match our foundation. What to do with this dilemma? Yes! You got it! The answer is translucent powder! But not all translucent powder brands are finely milled and stay true to its name. Some will make your face cake-y or even WHITE! Such an ugly scenario.

I already convinced myself to find a translucent powder since it's very versatile. (Don't we have those times when our skin tone changes every 3-4 months, especially after hitting the beach.) It can match any skin tone, only if you're using the good one.

I was in Rustan's Glorietta when I was torn between MAC Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder and Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder. I am a MAC fan but I dunno what pushed me to try Laura Mercier. There were actually 2 types of setting powder that they were selling. One is the Invisible Loose Setting Powder and the other is the Translucent one. The MUA at the Laura Mercier counter said that I just choose the latter cause it's their best seller, and it's tried & tested.

Foodie Adventure: The Goose Station

Did I tell you that I'm also a foodie? Let's take a little break from makeup and talk about the thing that we equally love...food! Last August 31, I went with my foodie best friend to finally try out The Goose Station as recommended by my siblings and other food bloggers. We've been wanting to eat in that restaurant for the longest time but we're both busy with work. Also, the food price is no joke. We found a deal at Deal Grocer but it didn't cover the signature menu that we originally wanted. Bottom line is, we still opted for the signature menu even though the price is a bit higher. We might as well spend more for the thing the we really wanted.

The Goose Station is a Degustation restaurant (see the name play there?) that takes pride in their duck dishes, specifically their different takes on Foie Gras. This restaurant also features neo-continental and playful approach to classic dishes that we all love. It's owned by Chef couple, Rob and Sunshine Pengson. I love the very intimate ambiance of the place, which has a 30-seat capacity.

Product Review: Bourjois Little Round Pot Blush

When I shop for clothes, I try to assess if it's multi-functional. Is it work appropriate but also reliable on any ordinary day? The truth is, we always want to get value for our money. Who doesn't? This thing also applies when I shop for makeup products. I'm always on the lookout for items that I can use more than 1 way.

Though matte blush is a staple to one's kit, it's always good to find a product that not only makes you looked flush but also highlights the apple of your cheeks. That's the main reason why I bought Bourjois Blush.

Bourjois is a French cosmetics company founded in the city of love, Paris. This brand is well-known for its baked beauty products, especially eyeshadows and blushes. It's a drugstore brand but the price range is a bit higher compared to Maybelline, Rimmel and Revlon. However, quality is also superb. A lot of makeup bloggers do use Bourjois products and highly recommend it.

I first encountered Bourjois in Europe back in 2006 but I didn't bother buying a product cause I found it a bit pricey. However, just last summer, Boots (a drugstore in Ireland) had a good deal. With no hesitation, I got this Bourjois Little Round Pot Blush to expand my blush collection. I can't exactly remember the price but I believe this was originally priced at €11 (around Php 580) but I got it €7 (Php 365). Quite a bargain right?

Makeup Portfolio: Fusion Fashion Show

Last July 28, I was invited by a former schoolmate (Jez Panaligan) to be one of the makeup artists for a fashion show that she organized with other photographers. The fashion show featured 2 online clothing stores namely Jaciendera and CeSa.

I did Sarah (the 2nd girl from the left) and Jcn's (last girl from the left) hair and makeup that night. :)

First Blog and Birthday Giveaway Announcement

I am super excited to announce the winner of my giveaway. But first, I wanna express my sincerest gratitude to all of the girls who joined my first giveaway. It's such an overwhelming experience to see a total of 1135 entries (around 120 unique names).

Actually, I drew for a few times cause the first names that came up failed to fulfill the must-haves. I think I got the real winner on the 5th draw. Anyhoo, let's proceed to the announcement.

Personal Makeup Shopper For A Day

My friends always ask for makeup tips from me ever since I expressed my interest in that area. For some reason, I find it fulfilling whenever I see someone like the product I recommended and rave about it endlessly. With all the makeup tips I've learned from blogs, books, makeup artists and YouTube gurus, I now know a variety of products that may be suited for different skin types and skin tones.

A close friend of mine who's back into performing asked for my help on makeup shopping. This is not a first time for me to do this. I've done it with other friends but this is the first time that I'll be blogging about it.

The reason why I love personal makeup shopping is the challenge of buying ALL the things the person needs given the limited budget. Well, you're lucky enough if your friend/client has no budget limit. :))

Chrissie needs the following things:
1. Concealer
2. Black Eye Pencil
3. Face Brush
4. Blending Brush
5. Eye Primer
6. Black Mascara
7. Makeup Remover
8. Lipstick

Chrissie has combination-oily skin with a yellow undertone. Basically, the things she needs to buy will be used in her upcoming concerts. I decided that we do the makeup shopping in SM Megamall and Shangri-la Mall to have access to both department store and high-end brands. Since we only have 1-2 hours for this activity, I already asked for the shopping list before hand and thought of brands that we can visit. After a fun 1.5 hours of shopping, here's our haul:

EOTD: Sunshine Through My Window

So how did you spend the past 2 long weekends? That basically explains why I was MIA these past few days. I spent most of the time relaxing and catching up with family and friends. Anyway, this will just be a quick post on a look I tried on our concert in Ptuj, Slovenia.

Quick Updates + Recent Makeup Haul

How's everyone? I hope you and your families are safe. It's just really heartbreaking to see the damage of the recent monsoon rains. :( Yesterday, I'm lucky to be in a safe and dry place but I also feel helpless. I wanna go out and help pack relief goods in Ateneo but I don't know how to get there. :( I hope the sun will appear soon and the floods will subside immediately.

In other news, I'm also here to blog about my recent makeup haul. I'm trying to avoid makeup shopping cause of my huge haul from my recent trip, as well as to save for better things (i.e makeup school, client makeup and tools). I have to say, I've been a good girl for the past months cause I didn't splurge that much. If there's one splurge I did, it's a good investment. Anyway, here are the things I acquired recently.

EOTD: A Teal Experiment

Just a really quick post! Two Saturdays ago, I experimented on different eye makeup looks. I tried to practice some crease cutting and this is what I came up with. Water was actually my inspiration for this look so I used a lot of teals and aqua blues. What do you think?

I'm trying to look for more inspirations for my next tutorlias and EOTDs. Feel free to suggest ideas and let me do my own interpretation of it. ;)

Told ya that's quick! ;)

Like other girls, I'm crazy for MAC lipsticks. I don't have as much but I can safely say that it's my favorite of all brands.

Makeup Tutorial: Purple Smokey Eye Makeup

Product Review: Maybelline Fit Me Pressed Powder (Fitted for Contouring)

Happy Tuesday everyone! I hope you're all having a wonderful week. Anyway, this blog post is another product review of my current contour powder. Actually, it's not really a contouring makeup but a pressed powder. Why? Let me explain.

I bought this product during our Euro Trip because I didn't like the bronzer I was using that time. It was too red for my skin tone that I found it unnatural looking. I tried searching for bronzers in different European drugstores but I didn't find one with a matte finish and has a hint of yellow undertones.

But I realized that maybe I should look for a darker shade of powder instead. Why foundation? First, foundations have wider spectrum  of shades. It can cater to different undertones. Plus, it's also long lasting and can provide the coverage that you want.

So finally, I found one that's affordable yet fitted all the criteria I've been looking for. It's Maybelline Fit Me (in 355 "Coconut")!

Paris le Jour (Collab with Ave Royd and Aileen Clarisse)

Hello everyone! How's your week going? Here's a quick post on another collab photo shoot with my dear friends.

When we were in Paris, we had a few hours to spare before our dreamy dinner cruise along the River Seine. With that, Ai, Ave and I decided to do an impromptu photo shoot. Who wouldn't? Everyone dreams of a photo shoot in the streets of Paris, so we took advantage since we're there anyway.

Makeup Tutorial: Simple Neutral Eye Makeup

Hello Ladies! Here comes another blog post for the week but this time around, it's a tutorial. Finally! Haha! After my eyebrow tutorial, I finally had the guts to post another one.

Don't worry cause this tutorial is so easy. I tried to come up with a simple look which I think anyone can do. I also used colors that are very wearable and easy to find. This look is very versatile and perfect for any occasion. No special blending skill is needed to achieve this.

Clozette.co - Your One Stop Shop

Have you visited a site that’s a one stop shop for girls who can’t get enough of fashion and makeup? I personally hate it when my personal site is bombarded with pictures of items on sale. As much as possible, I want to separate my ka-KIKAYAN from my social life and share it only to people who find it interesting too. Well girls, I think I found a social networking site that caters to our fashion and beauty needs.

I just recently discovered Clozette(www.clozette.co), which is a SEA Partner of US-based Glam Media (another big name in social networking), through another makeup guru. Clozette members consist of women from the Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and other parts of the world.

Why is it exactly a one stop shop? Members of Clozette are not only given the freedom to share fashion or beauty tips, photos, items and lookbooks but it’s also a place for shopping! What more can you ask for?  You can either shop until you drop or create your own store for FREE.

After signing up (which is super easy and fast btw), I posted my photos on my closet. Like I said, you get to share your fashion and beauty interests. Also, you get the chance to visit other’s virtual closet too. You can ‘Like’ and comment about it, just like other social networking sites.

But of course, you have to visit the best part….the Bazaar (http://www.clozette.co/bz/?gafrom=topnavnl)! In this section, you can find different categories to choose from or even post items you wish to sell and create your own store.

Believe it or not, creating a store is an easy peasy and will only take you 20 minutes. (Visit http://www.clozette.co/show/page/edm_bazaar)

But since I’m not a seller, I go window shopping. Haha! By just clicking the item, you’ll be able to see the full details of the product and its price.

I think you girls should check out clozette.co now and give it a try. Anyway, it’s for FREE and who knows, you might actually find the item you’ve been looking for. :)

Product Review: Maybelline Hypersharp Liner ( A New Fine Favorite)

Happy Monday everyone! We all hate Mondays, don't we? I just had a huge fight with EDSA traffic this morning. Ugh. Well, I hope this post will somehow lessen your hatred cause we all want a lovely start.

This post will give you my full-length review on a relatively new product of Maybelline. If you still remember, I've been in search for a good liquid liner after trying out E.L.F. pen liners. Good news! Looks like I've found it! It's getting raves already from different bloggers and makeup gurus because of its quality. I am so happy that Maybelline Philippines brought it here.

Sorry for the faded packaging, it's been sitting in my kit everyday.

Hooray! It's My Blog's 1st Anniversary! :)

Today, I'm celebrating the 1st year of my beauty blog. Indeed, time flies really fast. It feels like it was just yesterday when my friends were still convincing me to put up a blog. Honetly, I never imagined that I'd be able to last.

I have to admit that I haven't posted that much but I'm just happy to know that all of my posts were read and visited by a number of people. It somehow relieves me that I make sense to some. Lol

With that, I'd also like to give special shout out to the people who never tire of motivating me.

My Family
Eugene
Ave Royd
Guita, Ai, Abby and Issa
My Glee Club family
Co-workers and SMART friends
Schoolmates (from ADMU and SPCB)

I always find myself smiling whenever someone tells me that he/she reads my blog and that I should continue doing it. Seriously, it keeps me going. Though i'm not as popular as other bloggers, I can assure you that I think about what I post and I do take my time to make sure that I do quality blog entries.

So this ends the 1st year of my blog and a new chapter awaits. They say new beginning means better tomorrow. :)

What's in store for the next few months?

1. Better product reviews
2. More travel blogs
3. Tutorials!!!
4. Updated makeup portfolio
5. And more gimiksssss!

Again, thank you so much for taking your time to read and I hope I still see you here. I'm definitely looking forward to more blog anniversaries. Who knows, I might be able to give back to you in whatever way.

Makeup Haul: Surprise from an E.L.F.

I think Christmas came in very early this year cause I just got a gorgeous gift from a real ELF. Ahhhh no. Not the mythical creature but the makeup brand. :)

It is actually my 1st time to receive a surprise package from a beauty company that's why I'm so excited to share it with my readers. I'm sure a lot of popular bloggers would say that they're used to receiving packages but I bet they would agree with me that firsts are always memorable. In my case, I want to immortalize it thus this blog post.
Even posted it on Instagram...Yeah I was that excited :))

My Spring/Summer Inspired Look

Before the rainy season officially starts, let me give you one simple Spring/Summer inspired look. I wore this look on a sunny day in Budapest, Hungary. It was also a scheduled courtesy visit to the Philippine Ambassador. Since it's a beautiful Spring morning, I decided to use pink and corals, a color combination very popular this season.
