Finally doing my travel blog entry after 1 month of being back here in the Philippines. I have to warn you thought that there will be tons of photos to see in this blog and as much as I would like to trim it further, there are really memories that you can't help but share. :)

My 1st Europe Tour Updates

Hello guys! Greetings from Munich, Germany! I know it's been a while since my last post but thankfully, I finally had a few minutes to do this post. So yes, I'm finally here in Europe and have been here since March 30. The weather is a bit colder but as the days pass by, the Spring temperature is finally kicking in. The first 5 days were spent in a small town in Germany called Oberweyer. I can say that it's truly one unforgettable stop and made me feel less homesick. My German host family's generosity is admirable. I really wanna tell more about this place but I have little time to spare. I promise to do that on my next post. Meanwhile, here are snippets of what happened.

Let's Go Vintage (ACGC Europe Tour 2012 Photoshoot

I'm not sure if I mentiond this but the Ateneo College Glee Club is coming back to Europe to compete in the European Grand Prix for Choral Music. Last May 2011, the ACGC won the Grand Prize in Varna, Bulgaria, qualifying them to the EGP 2012. EGP is like the FIFA of Choral World and one of the most prestigious choral competitions in the whole world.

I just want to make sure that you know the reason behind this shoot. And of course, to tell the world how proud I am of my ACGC family. Choral groups are not as aprreciated here in the Philippines and hopefully someday, Filipinos will know of the rich choral music tradition we have. We do have a lot of award-winning choirs here in the Philippines: Ateneo College Glee Club of course, Philippine Madrial Singers, Ateneo Chamber Singers, Imusicapella, UST Singers, UP Singing Ambassadors, Loboc Children's Choir  to name a few. 

Anyway, enough with the geeky choral (yes, I'm a choral geek) stuff. Ave, Miggi and I made sure that the photoshoot this year will be more "Bongga" since this is indeed a big year for the group. Last year's theme was Spring Glow (Click Here) so we promised that this year's theme will be very contrasting. On the way to our 1st meeting, I saw Bruno Mars's billboard ad for Bench. I fell in love with the shades  of brown. Perfect peg! Then Ave said that we could do vintage since Bruno Mar's campaign has that vibe. Miggi agreed with our proposal and added more elements to the idea. We initially wanted a "Vintage Travellers" theme but the logistics will be more difficult since we'll be needing old big luggage to recreate the effect. After costume inspections and online research, here are the final photos.

Below are the groups shots of each voice section and committee. My traincase has a cameo in the Alto 1 photo. Hihi! Even without the elaborate props, we still achieved our vision for the shoot. Galing mo Ave!

A Regal Transformation

Last July, Stef asked me and Ave to help her for her very 1st voice recital. We both agreed and said YES. I met Stef in the Ateneo College Glee Club, a Voice Major in the UP College of Music. She's our one of guest sopranos (I would also say the best) and also the better half of one of our members. Eeeee. Cheesy! Haha! When we asked her on what theme she wants for her shoot, she would always say "kahit ano" (anything in English). She just informed us that the theme of her recital itself is "Flowers". Ave and I decided that we do an ethereal shoot for her since UP has a lot of trees and grass areas. However, it was raining cats and dogs on the day of the shoot which made it impossible for us to shoot outdoors. Too bad! Ave then resorted to the white wall.

Here's Stef's portrait shot! Stef actually looks young for her age. I decided that I want to do a makeup look that is more age appropriate without losing the youthful glow. Since Stef is a performer, I want a look that will let people take her seriously amidst her very young and bubbly personality.

I gave more emphasis on her eyes using violet and purple hues. I also shaped her brows which are very light in person, to frame her face better. Added falsies on the outer corner of her lashline to open up her beautiful light brown eyes. I did a little contouring and more highlighting to give that radiant looking skin. Her lips were colored in light pink(but with a little sparkling gloss) to give more attention to her eyes.

I really love the look on her. The eyes added more drama to her face and made her transform into a "Diva" that she is. Oh, it was such a fun shoot as well! Ave said that it was one of the fastest and easiest shoots he ever had. Stef was very obedient to all the things that Ave would tell her. Another good job guys! I'm very sure that Stef will do very well in her recital. Speaking of which...

You guys should watch her! I tell you, it is worth it to watch Stef! Her voice...ugh! I can't even... It's just too beautiful to describe. I'll also be doing her makeup so I hope I can take photos and share it with you guys. If you are interested, here are the details.

Ateneo College Glee Club: European Tour 2011 Photoshoot

That day, the Ateneo College Glee Club European Tour Cast was scheduled to have a photoshoot with my talented friend, Ave Royd Santiago. Instead of the usual boring-looking-choir photos, Ave and I conceptualized a fresher and more youthful theme for this shoot. And luckily, the ExeCom approved our proposal. No, I did not do everyone's makeup. I was actually set to do my own since I want them to learn and be more independent(especially the BOYS). Haha! But sometimes, you just can't resist them. The MUA in me will always give in to their requests. Here are some of the people who requested for my help:

Another great work by Ave Royd! Can you imagine doing that much shots and post-processing them as well? The Glee Club never went wrong on choosing Ave for this job. It was all meant to happen because after a few months, he was also chosen to join the group in Europe as Production Manager. Which reminds me... visit his amazing Project 81 blog. This blog documents the Glee Club's 81-day tour around Europe. You'll feel like you were there with us! :)

Speaking of the ACGC! I think this is the best time to promote.

HEAT

Hallo! Finally, a makeup post! But these photos are long overdue since they were taken about a year ago. Anyway, this photoshoot is a lot of firsts for me.

1. 1st portfilio photoshoot
2. 1st attempt to shoot outdoors
3. 1st collaboration with my bestfriend photographer, Ave Royd Santiago and good friend from the Ateneo College Glee Club, Aileen Belmonte

Ave and I have been brewing this photoshoot for 2 months. We just started doing our own passion back then (Ave as a photographer and me as MUA). During one dinner out, we agreed to do a collaboration. We were so EXCITED! It was my 1st time to hear the word PEGS. Hahaha! But since then, I can't stop using that word every time I have a make-up gig/project. Anyhoo, after a few days we finally did it! But before the final photos, let me show you some of our BTS pictures.

It was an extremely hot day (thus the title)! I had to retouch Ai's makeup for so many times. And I just realized that outdoor shoots are quite difficult for a 2-man crew. Thank God for helpful friends like Chrissie, Issa and Rey (friends from Ateneo College Glee Club. We survived! Anyway, I'll stop the talking. Here are the final photos:

Don't you just love Ai's profile shots? She looks like a Brazilian model. I used brown hues for her eyes and smoky-fied it, and used nude lipstick to bring out her beautiful eyes.






She's like professional model, right?

I have to say that this has been one of the best shoots I've been. It's always fun to do it with your friends. No pressure, no pretensions. :) I was hoping that this will not be the last. And I was right! We had another collaboration and this time, with 2 models. So, watch out for it! :)
